Artist Profile
Ben Rivett is a visual artist based in Cairns, Far North Queensland. After finishing a degree in Industrial Design at the Queensland University of Technology in Brisbane, Ben has moved back to his hometown to reconnect with the tropical environment and to pursue a career in fine arts. While completing his degree, Ben has exhibited his work in night clubs and festivals in south-east Queensland, and is now expanding his art portfolio for future exhibitions.
His work features original acrylic paintings, highlighting the natural beauty of the region. While they vary from lush photo-realistic landscapes to energetic abstracts, Ben’s love and appreciation of the natural environment is evident in every piece.
“I view painting as an exciting and seemingly limitless form of creative expression. It allows me to capture some of the beauty, vivid colour and vibrant energy that permeates the natural landscapes of the tropics.
“Over time, the environment influences us all in a subtle yet persistent way. I feel lucky to be under the influence of such an alive land, and hope that some of those vibrations make their way onto canvas.”
